Snow. And lots of it.

This is going to be a long post with lots of pictures. And probably a bit of griping because I detest snow and cold and everything associated with it. Which is why I love where we live because we hardly ever get snow that sticks around for more than a day. Not this time. The kids are enjoying it, of course, but Mommy is a poor sport.

So, Saturday we hit up a thrift store and got a few great outfits for each kid, lots of neat books, and BLUE XMAS LIGHTS! Back story... My husband was deployed to Naples, Italy during Christmas of 2000. I went over to visit him for a week and we stayed in his barracks room. (This was against the rules, but the barracks were deserted since everyone was off on a training mission so...) Anyway, to get into the Christmas spirit, my husband and a friend had purchased some Xmas lights and strung them around the ceiling of their rooms. My husband had blue and his friend had red. So that was our little bit of Christmas that year and it's a fond memory. For whatever reason, I had told Calli about this just recently so when we stumbled across a string of blue lights at the thrift store (for less than a dollar, by the way!) we couldn't pass them up!

After cleaning up her room a bit, we strung them up and she thinks it's just the coolest thing...

And since it started SNOWING (blah!) and stew was cooking...



We decided to bake bread (rolls again actually, but letting the machine do all the work)...



And then cookies! (Left over from Halloween, lol!)



THEN, at 7 o'clock at night my children decide they NEED to go out and play in the snow. Yuck, but okay, whatever...

 

In that last pic Rickson had fallen down and gotten his hand dirty. He was done playing and wanted to come in to wash up.

So the next morning, Calli goes out to play with friends in this mess...



And once she was frozen enough to give up on the fun of snow, we made snow ice cream!



Now we're making cinnamon rolls and trying to keep warm by the fire... but we are out of wood. Eep!
